Brazilian cave heritage under siege In a letter published in Science, 95 scientists have denounced the new decree of President Jair Bolsonaro. The January decree ignores the irreplaceable scientific value of Brazilian caves allowing the destruction of most relevant subterranean habitats. The presidential act represents a substantial step backward for subterranean conservation. The researcher Tiziana Di Lorenzo of the Research Institute on Terrestrial Ecosystems of the CNR (CNR-IRET) is one of the authors of the letter.
