Environmental and molecular physiology of abiotic stress in plants
Research activity
The research activity is aimed at expanding the knowledge on the physiological, molecular, biochemical, genetic and ecological mechanisms controlling plant-environment interactions at single plant, plant population, natural and cultivated plant community level, and on the role that these mechanisms exert on plant adaptation.
Environmental biomitigation and biorestoration
Research activity
The activity of this research line is focused on different aspects of bioremediation of soil, waste and polluted materials for the environment restoration. The degradation of persistent pharmaceutical organic compounds in soil and waste is studied by both ligninolytic fungi and their enzymes (mycoremediation) and by plant uptake and degradation (phytoremediation).
