Research activities
Studies are carried out for understanding of biological systems at the basis of "relationships between environment-agriculture-anthropic wellbeing" through the exploration and development of products and processes of biological interest, using strategies including multi and interdisciplinary between chemistry and biology.
In particular, the scientific expertise are concerning two main activities:
The understanding of plant physiological phenomena for the development of environmentally sustainable processes, through the identification, characterization and study of plant enzyme systems with applications in the nutraceutical, food and agriculture, and environmental aspects.
The exploitation of endemic and/or neglected plant resources is done through the study and improvement of species of agribusiness interest through s genotyping survey (molecular markers) and chemical speciation (extraction and characterization of active ingredients with potential applications in the fields of nutraceuticals and/or cosmetics).
