Sarah Boulamail is a research fellow at the CNR-IRET (Institute of Research on Terrestrial Ecosystems), based in Lecce, Italy. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Salento in October 2024, with a dissertation focused on energetics and behavior in both vertebrates and invertebrates.
She is currently involved in the STIGE CLIMAQUIFERI project, under the supervision of Dr. Francesco Cozzoli, which investigates energy use in cave-dwelling animals. Her fieldwork has included sampling in various regions of Puglia, southern Italy. Through a collaboration with the IRSA Institute in Verbania, she has also worked alongside researcher Alejandro Martinez, studying and analyzing species from Lanzarote.
Her research interests in inland waters span multiple areas, from ecophysiology to the effects of pollutants on aquatic ecosystems.
