Il presidente del CNR in visita a Castelporziano

Andrea Lenzi, President of the CNR, and Jacopo Greco, Director General of the institution, visited the ICOS station in Castelporziano. The CNR leadership was accompanied by Carlo Calfapietra, Director of the Research Institute on Terrestrial Ecosystems (IRET), and Silvano Fares, Principal Investigator of the monitoring station, who presented the site’s distinctive features.

During the morning, researchers illustrated the main ongoing activities, with particular focus on the implementation and upgrading of experimental sites through the Itineris and NBFC (National Biodiversity Future Center) projects. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the research stations, during which instruments, methodologies, and scientific results were presented.

The CNR leadership expressed great satisfaction, appreciating the high level of innovation and the strategic value of the research conducted at Castelporziano, and recognizing its central role in the national scientific landscape.

The meeting also represented a key moment in view of the renewal of the agreements currently in place between the Castelporziano estate and the CNR, within the framework of initiatives linked to national centers and foundations developed under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

The visit confirmed the importance of collaboration between institutions and research for sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
