I am a Technologist at the Research Institute on Terrestrial Ecosystems (IRET) of the National Research Council (CNR). In the last 14 years, I have been focusing my interest on the analysis of Nature-based solutions (NBS). I have been working on urban forests and green infrastructure (GI) for urban ecosystem services maximization. I am now working with FAIR-enabling best practices within the Research Infrastructures context.
Main tasks:
1- Responsible for FAIR enabling best practices for the Atmosphere sub-domain of the ITINERIS PNRR Project (Italian Integrated Environmental Research Infrastructures System) within the WP2 Activities: implementation of FAIR principles within research infrastructure (Findability; Accessibility; Interoperability; Reusability).
2- NbS Researcher: Identification of mechanisms that enhance the adsorption of particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5 and PM1) by leaves. I analyze the quality and quantity of PM on trees and shrubs’ leaves, and their relationships with macro- and micro-structures. To conduct my research, I adopt different approaches: laboratory, field analysis, and model approach. The technique I use the most is the scanning electron microscopy, coupled with elemental detection through X-ray (SEM/EDX). Overall, my work on NBS spans two main areas: coordination and research exchange.
3- NbS Italy Hub (www.nbsitalyhub.it) organizing commettee member; communication team; meeting organization; delegate for International meetings. As part of the NbS Italy Hub’s coordination group, I contribute to building a national network to integrate NBS into future territorial infrastructures.
