NESTOLA ENRICA

Position: TECNOLOGO

Type: T.D.

Location: Lecce

Research Lines: Biodiversity, Climate Change, Ecological processes, Plant Sciences

With a PhD in Forest Ecology, my research focuses on plant response to environmental stress in natural and peri-urban ecosystems. My main expertise lies in proximal sensing and the analysis of high spectral resolution data.

In particular, I use the optical properties of vegetation and reflectance indices, combined with data on gas exchanges, fluorescence, and chlorophyll, to analyze ecophysiological dynamics in forests.

My main research interests include biodiversity estimation through remote and proximal sensing, the analysis of particulate matter (PM) removal by vegetation, the role of urban green areas in temperature mitigation, and the social impact of urban green spaces.

Recently, through my collaboration with the LifeWatch research infrastructure, I have gained expertise in biodiversity and ecosystem data management according to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. I support research infrastructures and scientists by providing recommendations for the implementation of FAIR principles in the environmental domain.
