I am interested in investigating functional traits dynamics in phytoplankton-zooplankton interactions in the context of global change and biodiversity loss. I study the mechanisms underlying theorganization and maintenance of plankton diversity and carbon pathways in freshwater and marine ecosystems and the morpho-functional and metabolic responses of plankton to climate change. My research involves laboratory and field experiments, taxonomic and trait-based data collection, harmonization and analysis to investigate threats to biodiversity and impacts on ecosystem services and functioning from an e-Science perspective.
Part of my research is going to be developed inside the ITINERIS project (WP 6/8, activities 6.17and 8.2).
Other project, collaboration and initiatives I am involved in are:
Restore4Cs, DTO-BioFlow, PRIN-Future, LifeWatch
Projects
Research fields
Data production, harmonisation, integration and analysis of plankton functional trait data and metadata. Creation, validation and implementation of semantic resources (thesauri) and virtual research environments (VRE) for trait data interoperability and analysis within the ITINERIS project and in collaboration with the LifeWatch e-Science research infrastructure.
