Olga Gavrichkova is a senior researcher at the Research Institute on Terrestrial Ecosystems (IRET) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). Graduated in 2005 in biological sciences in Krasnojarsk State University (Kranojarsk, Russian Federation) and obtained her PhD in 2009 in forestry in the University of Tuscia (Viterbo, Italy) studying processes and factors controlling the behavior of different soil respiration sources in managed grassland ecosystems. In that period was involved in national and international projects (CARBOEUROPE, CARBOITALY, CARBOAFRICA) and participated in research campaigns in South Africa, Germany and Italy.

During the postdoctoral career interested mainly in the evaluation of the mechanisms behind aboveground-belowground coupling of the C cycle in grassland, shrub and forest ecosystems, studied the effects of the changing climate on C turnover in the plant-soil systems and its interactions with N cycle and management activity from Arctic to Mediterranean. Participated in numerous national and international projects, also in the role of PI and Unit leader. Obtained grants to conduct an independent research from the European Commission (Marie Curie COFUND) from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and from CNR  for training and research conduction in Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry and University of Gottingen.

Expert in application of stable isotopes in ecological studies, in gas exchange measurements and in biochemical characterization of vegetation and soil. Scientific and technical responsible of Brocon eddy covariance site  (grazed alpine grassland, 1700m asl, Italy). Author of more than 40 scientific publications, H-index 16 (scopus).
