The Contribution of Scientific Research to the Future of Our Mountains

The Day of Reflection and Communication on the theme “The Contribution of Scientific Research to the Future of Our Mountains” concluded on March 27.

The event, held at the CNR headquarters, explored various topics related to the role of scientific research in shaping this perspective. The day was organized by the Mountains Working Group of the Department of Earth System Sciences and Environmental Technologies of the National Research Council (CNR).

The event was designed to foster dialogue between scientific research and the users/stakeholders of mountain areas, as well as with other Italian institutions operating in mountain regions and representatives of civil society. This dialogue was introduced and supported by the seven research topics of the Mountains Working Group, covering: atmosphere, biodiversity, climate, cryosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and mountain medicine. The event also highlighted the CNR-CAI project “Climate and Environment Sentinel Shelters.”

At the end of the event, representatives from Italian institutions and associations working on various mountain-related aspects joined forces with CNR in a roundtable discussion on the future of scientific research in support of mountain regions and those who live and work there.
