On February 27, 2026, the final results of the REUSES project will be presented at the Casa delle Culture in Ancona. The project focuses on the regeneration of sealed urban soils to restore ecosystem service.
On Friday, February 27, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM, the Associazione Casa delle Culture APS in Ancona (Via Valle Miano 46) will host the event within the REUSES project (REstore Urban Sealed soil for alternative Ecosystem Services.
The project, funded by the European Union under the Next Generation EU – PNRR program (PRIN PNRR 2022), aimed to study the characteristics of soils that were formerly paved or “sealed” urban areas. The goal was to transform them into productive community green spaces, demonstrating how it is possible to restore soil vitality even in highly anthropized contexts.
Meeting agenda
The event will open with institutional greetings from Councilor Marco Battino (Municipality of Ancona), Prof. Massimiliano Sgroi (Università Politecnica delle Marche), Dr. Niccolò Pampuro (CNR), and Prof. Davide Neri, Director of the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Sciences at the Università Politecnica delle Marche.
The scientific heart of the meeting will follow, featuring:
- “Sprouting cities: regenerating soil, regenerating communities”: a presentation by Dr. Sara Di Lonardo (CNR-IRET), the REUSES project coordinator (PI).
- “Soil and urban greenery: involving citizens in Ancona“: by Arch. Fabio Vallarola (Municipality of Ancona), who will illustrate the importance of citizen involvement in the management of public greenery.
The concluding session, scheduled for 6:45 PM, will feature an open discussion moderated by Dr. Giulia Sestilli (CLIMA2024 Project), with the participation of Prof. Stefania Cocco (Università Politecnica delle Marche) and CNR-IRET researchers Dr. Alessandra Bonetti and Dr. Luigi D’Acqui.
