Isolation and identification of bacterial and archaeal species from different environments also characterized by extreme conditions. Study of the biotechnological potential of these microorganisms mainly focusing on their industrially relevant enzymes especially suited for biorefinery purposes in the circular economy perspective. Identification of non-conventional yeasts to be harnessed for starter formulation in wine and bread-making sectors. Study of their applications in biorefinery for the recovery of value added bioactive compounds from different biomasses such as agro-industrial byproducts and waste among others.
